Meet: Our Driver, Our Friend

Meet...our driver, Mr. Li.

Mr. Li was the first to meet us at the airport 18 months ago as we embarrked on this adventure.
He helped  us load our 25 bags, who knows what he was thinking with all of our stuff.
He drove us around town almost everyday witthout any complaints.
Even when Claire kicked the back of his chair or Lindsay screamed at the top of her lungs while he was weaving thru the crazy traffic in Shanghai...no complaints (and no wreaks either!!).
He waited (often hours) outside my house while I was in taking a nap during his lunch without any complaints.
He learned how to use our car seats and strapped Claire in each and every day....even though she usually cried and yelled at him because she wanted to do it herself.
He tried faithfully to follow my horrible pronouncation of the Chinese street names without laughing or arguing that I was wrong.
Twice Mr. Li came into to cook us a wonderful dinner, and very politly declined when we tried to get him to sit down and eat with us.
Everyweek, he brought the girls treats and pastries that he knew they liked, even though he laughed and said he prefers rice.
When asked, tomorrow morning 6:00, ok?" after dropping one of us off at midnight, he always replied, "No Problem".
He was the last one to see us off and watch us depart when we left Shanghai.

We will miss him!
