For spring break this year, we deceided to take a trip to Hong Kong. It is about a 2 hour plane trip south of Shanghai. We spent the first few days touring the city of Hong Kong and then went to Hong Kong Disney (Disney pictures in a different posting)
One of the first things we did was take a tram to Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island. This is the tram that we took to the top.
On the top...it was not a very nice evening. It had started drizzling once we got there.
Claire standing under one of the hundreds of very tall buildings on Hong Kong Island.
Something the girls often see...whenever they get their picts taken with other Chinese children/woman, they always show the peace sign. Lindsay and Claire have started doing it...I don't think they have any clue what it means.
We went to the Hong Kong History Musum. It is a great place and just happen to be very close to the hotel.
We had to eat a dim sum lunch since it is the number one cuisine in Hong Kong. The girls really don't like it very much.
Lizzard on a stick anyone???
Hong Kong has lots of markets. We spent sometime at the Jade Market....lots and lots of vendors selling jade. We then went to this night market. Lots and lots of everything!!
And then the girls spotted a bucket of really fresh fish...
We were in Hong Kong over Easter. The girls and I went to this Catholic Church on Sunday morning.
After church....
Hong Kong Island across the bay...
We strolled down the Avenue of the Stars...Claire putting her hand on Jackie Chan's handprints...
We visited some food markets.
And this is what you call fresh chicken...live chickens on the right side...and then dead and cooked on the left.
I had to explain to the girls that they use every part of the animal...
Down town on Hong Kong Island on Sunday afternoon. Lots of excitment going on.
It took awhile to find it, but we finally found the longest escalator in the world. It starts down at the down town and goes all the way up to the residential areas. If you just just stand (don't walk up), it will take 20 minutes to get from the bottom to the top.
We got off about half way up at an area called "SoHo" and had dinner.
We took the ferry back over to Kowloon where we were staying.
Overlooking Hong Kong Island as we took a stroll along the water.
